Can dogs eat marshmallows?
Ask your vet about your own pet. This page is general information from the sources below.
Marshmallows is only for small amounts, or in certain forms, for dogs. Pet Poison Helpline says plain marshmallows are not poisonous to dogs, but they are mostly sugar and can upset the stomach. Sugar-free ones may contain xylitol, which can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar. If xylitol is possible, call a vet or poison line. Not a treat to plan on. The marshmallow is not the main problem.

Why
Pet Poison Helpline says plain marshmallows are not poisonous to dogs, but they are mostly sugar and can upset the stomach. Sugar-free ones may contain xylitol, which can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar. If xylitol is possible, call a vet or poison line.
How to serve it
Not a treat to plan on. If a dog got one plain marshmallow, that is a small thing.
Good to know
The marshmallow is not the main problem. Xylitol in sugar-free kinds, and chocolate in s'mores, are.
Watch for: Xylitol can appear as "birch sugar" on labels. Rocky road can also hold macadamia nuts, and s'mores hold chocolate.
Already ate it?
If your pet ate a lot, or you are worried, call your vet. Say what was eaten, how much and when, and have your pet's weight ready.

For the children
"Marshmallows is only a tiny treat for dogs, and only a grown-up decides how much."
A job: Be the label reader. Before a grown-up shares any food with the dog, check this page, and ask a grown-up if the food is not on it.
