Can dogs eat corn?
Ask your vet about your own pet. This page is general information from the sources below.
Corn is only for small amounts, or in certain forms, for dogs. The big problem with corn is the cob. Cornell says corn cobs are a common thing that gets stuck in a dog's gut, and VCA says never to feed a dog a whole cob because it can cause a blockage. A blockage is an emergency, so call a vet right away if a dog swallows cob.

Why
The big problem with corn is the cob. Cornell says corn cobs are a common thing that gets stuck in a dog's gut, and VCA says never to feed a dog a whole cob because it can cause a blockage. A blockage is an emergency, so call a vet right away if a dog swallows cob.
How to serve it
Never a whole cob. For anything else, ask your vet first, since the pages I read do not cover loose kernels.
Good to know
With corn, the cob is the danger, not the kernels: a swallowed cob can block a dog's gut and often needs surgery.
Watch for: Cobs thrown in the trash or left after a barbecue are easy for dogs to grab. Keep them out of reach.
Already ate it?
If your pet ate a lot, or you are worried, call your vet. Say what was eaten, how much and when, and have your pet's weight ready.

For the children
"Corn is only a tiny treat for dogs, and only a grown-up decides how much."
A job: Be the label reader. Before a grown-up shares any food with the dog, check this page, and ask a grown-up if the food is not on it.
