Pet poison help lines
If you think your pet has eaten something poisonous, call your vet, an emergency vet, or one of these lines straight away, even if your pet seems fine.
Poison emergency? Call now
ASPCA Animal Poison Control: (888) 426-4435, 24 hours a day, every day. A consultation fee may apply.
Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661, 24/7. $99 per incident, follow-up calls included.
Or call your vet or the nearest emergency vet.
What to have ready when you call
- Your pet's species, breed, age and weight.
- What your pet ate or touched, how much, and when.
- The packaging or label, if there is one.
- Anything you've noticed since (but don't wait for signs before calling).
About the fees
Both lines are run by veterinary toxicology experts and charge for a consultation. The ASPCA says only that "a consultation fee may apply". Pet Poison Helpline charges $99 per incident, and its follow-up calls are included. Your own vet may be able to help first, at no extra cost if they're open.
