Can dogs eat bacon?
Ask your vet about your own pet. This page is general information from the sources below.
No. Never share bacon with dogs; call your vet or a poison line if some is eaten. Bacon is not poison, but it is very fatty and salty. Fatty table foods can cause anything from an upset stomach to a serious, sometimes fatal, inflamed pancreas. The ASPCA says to avoid bacon, so skip it. If a pet ate a lot, call a vet or a poison line.

Why
Bacon is not poison, but it is very fatty and salty. Fatty table foods can cause anything from an upset stomach to a serious, sometimes fatal, inflamed pancreas. The ASPCA says to avoid bacon, so skip it. If a pet ate a lot, call a vet or a poison line.
Good to know
The risk with bacon is fat and salt, not a poison. Signs of a pancreas problem can show up as late as 4 days after the bacon was eaten.
Watch for: Bacon grease, drippings, and bacon bits on other foods are still fatty and salty.
Already ate it?
Call now, even if your pet seems fine. Say what was eaten, how much and when, and have your pet's weight ready.

A job: Be the label reader. Before a grown-up shares any food with the dog, check this page, and ask a grown-up if the food is not on it.
